They issue Building and Zoning Permits for residents and businesses. You have to check in with them if you want to start a business to ensure the property you want to use is zoned for the business you want to start. They also rent out the 4 County Community Centers. If you are rented or leasing property anywhere in the county the owners should tell you the type of commercial zoning has already been approved. If you need a variance you must start with this department and then get it approved by the Board of County Commissioners. They meet twice a month on Mondays across from the Zoning Office on the second floor. A Business License, Occupational License, or Business Tax Certificate is issued at Town Hall.
