Fall is Almost Here

by jolenemac78 September 19, 2016 No Comments

roranch07022015-1Fall is almost officially here and there will be more special events in and around Lafayette County Florida for us to participate and enjoy. Not the least of which is the upcoming Poker Run sponsored by our very own Suwannee River Rendezvous Campground. We hope you have already signed up to participate in the event as it is for a very worthy cause. And, hopefully the weather will cooperate next weekend. Next month they are hosting their annual Suwannee River Clean Up Party. Check out the Events page for more information: http://www.suwanneeriverrendezvous.com/events/

6th Annual Spring Hoppin’ Poker Run

Also in October is the ever popular Pioneer Day held in the downtown park. Sadly, the Lafayette County Florida Chamber of Commerce is no longer hosting this event and we are waiting to hear from the Lafayette Group Activities people for more information on participation, vendor applications and what not. ****UPDATE*** got a response for this year’s upcoming Pioneer Day Festival.

For those who would like to be vendors for this event the Lafayette Activities Group Facebook page is at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/168669993518973/

“Attention looking for local handmade crafts vendors for our 36th annual pioneer festival which coming up soon. If you are first time at our festival we are offering a discount on your booth so please contact us ASAP Kelli Justice Joyner 386-590-7263 or Tresa Jackson 386-249-8390”

We are currently working on getting our Community Calendar updated once again. If you have an event coming up that you would like to share with the rest of the county such as a holiday festival, upcoming adult classes you are teaching, a business sidewalk sales event, a rummage/bake sale for your church or any other special happening that the whole community can attend then please use our CONTACT US form and let us know and we will post it up on the calendar, our facebook page and even do a tweet on Twitter.

We just looked at the R.O. Ranch Event Calendar page but they don’t have anything listed for the next 3 months. Too bad, other than camping and riding your horse down some of their trails they should be hosting some events during the cooler months out there.

It seems the 4-H Club will be having a Holiday Bake-Off on December 13th. Wonder if just anyone can come to that one. I wouldn’t mind trying our some tasty recipes.

And finally, we need to get out there and attend as many of our Lafayette High School sporting events that you can. Cheering on your own children is a given but cheering on the entire team even though you may not have any children in school yet or any longer just shows you support your community. See ya out there folks!
