Fall is almost officially here and there will be more special events in and around Lafayette County Florida for us to participate and enjoy. Not the least of which is the upcoming Poker Run sponsored by our very own Suwannee River Rendezvous Campground. We hope you have already signed up to participate in the event as it is for a very worthy cause. And, hopefully the weather will cooperate next weekend. Next month they are hosting their annual Suwannee River Clean Up Party. Check out the Events page for more information: http://www.suwanneeriverrendezvous.com/events/

Getting out this spring with several events happening in and around the Lafayette County Florida area. Naturally, we will be keeping up with the events within the county but every now and then it is nice to know what’s going on in the neighboring counties as well. If you have an upcoming event we hope you will get in touch and let us know. We will list the event on the Community Calendar and if we get enough responses of course we will post another blog article.

Fall season getting you down? Over the last several months we have all been hoping for a little cooler weather, a cessation of the bugs and time from our many chores to have a little fun. Now if only the weather would cool off enjoy for us to enjoy it. We may be inviting the bad weather by asking for cooler temperatures but we really could use it right about now.
The holidays are coming, people are traveling more, visiting their family and just trying to get out more. So, please be careful out there when you on the road. Hopefully, everyone’s harvests have gone well and the fall crops should be getting ready for picking if they haven’t been already. The kids have been enjoying school, we hope, participating in their chosen sports and learning new things. But we all need a little break every now and then. If you were able to attend the Pioneer Festival last month we hope you have a great time, took lots of pictures and are willing to share your experiences. Drop us a line using our Contact Us form.

Have You Been to Troy Springs State Park Recently? It has a picnic area with barbecue grills under shady oak and pine trees, lovely breezes and a view of the Suwannee River along with fishing from the floating dock. The spring is currently still flooded but for only $5 per car load you can still have a great day enjoying yourself with your family and friends. Hopefully, before school lets out for the summer the river water will have gone down enough so that the Troy Springs park ranger, Tina, will be able to open that area up to swimmers and divers. We have been here for 7 days now and it is very quiet and peaceful here. We have seen a large hawk swooping around the horse barn area on it’s daily rounds, a small group of young deer moving between the water management land areas and here in the mornings and late afternoons and some large rabbits bouncing here and there.

Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays to all our readers, subscribers as well as family and friends. We may not get snow this year, “please no snow”, but with all the rain we have had over the last 12 months we can only hope that we will have better luck in the coming year. It would be nice to have evenly distributed rain to help with crops, cut down on mosquitoes and maybe give the county a chance to repair the roads that have developed those pot holes. I don’t know about you but pot holes and wash-out roads are truly bad on the old car suspension and tires.
