Fall season getting you down? Over the last several months we have all been hoping for a little cooler weather, a cessation of the bugs and time from our many chores to have a little fun. Now if only the weather would cool off enjoy for us to enjoy it. We may be inviting the bad weather by asking for cooler temperatures but we really could use it right about now.
The holidays are coming, people are traveling more, visiting their family and just trying to get out more. So, please be careful out there when you on the road. Hopefully, everyone’s harvests have gone well and the fall crops should be getting ready for picking if they haven’t been already. The kids have been enjoying school, we hope, participating in their chosen sports and learning new things. But we all need a little break every now and then. If you were able to attend the Pioneer Festival last month we hope you have a great time, took lots of pictures and are willing to share your experiences. Drop us a line using our Contact Us form.

Over the last couple of weeks our kids have gone back to school and we have already had one holiday. We hope everyone had a nice and safe Labor Day. With summer ending and fall beginning there will be more school sporting events and we would like to start writing about our local schools sports teams as well as any amateur sports leagues. If we haven’t listed your teams upcoming games yet on our Community Calendar page please CONTACT US with the information and we will add them. We would also like to include local businesses and churches events on the Community Calendar. We will be posting some of these events on all of our Social Media pages such as:
Town of Mayo and Lafayette County Facebook Page
@TownOfMayoFl Twitter Page
Lafayette County Florida Google Plus Page

What this county needs to be put on the map is some new ideas. We want to start a Mobile Boutique Festival that is held about once a month or once every three months. The first few events can be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Park with local and school bands providing the entertainment. It can even be held at a different Community Center each quarter to spice things up. Most of the Community Centers have lots of room to hold events and the Center’s building itself can be used by various charity organizations in and around the county to put up displays for the public. Of course, there will be food vendors too. The main thing is to have colorful and unique mobile shops that are all vintage trailers or old renovated RVs. This type of event has been growing over the years and could be a great draw for the county. Local businesses can get involved by creating their own “shop on wheels”, giving discounts to local people for painting, renovating supplies, putting up flyers in their brick-n-mortar stores, posting about the events on their websites and Facebook pages, etc.

Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays to all our readers, subscribers as well as family and friends. We may not get snow this year, “please no snow”, but with all the rain we have had over the last 12 months we can only hope that we will have better luck in the coming year. It would be nice to have evenly distributed rain to help with crops, cut down on mosquitoes and maybe give the county a chance to repair the roads that have developed those pot holes. I don’t know about you but pot holes and wash-out roads are truly bad on the old car suspension and tires.
Over the next year we will still be offering Lafayette County Florida Small Businesses very inexpensive website either linked with our website or as a separate website altogether. For more information please check out Our Service page. We will still list your business in Our Mayo Business Directory page for FREE. All you need to do is send us a picture and your contact information as well as a couple of words about what you offer your customers. Over the last few months we have been getting some email questions and we thought we would post them here so that they might get answered. Communication is the key to get more people to come to Lafayette County, sharing knowledge with others is another way to help bring more visitors and possibly more businesses to the area. Some of the questions I am unable to answer so they will be added below in hopes of our readers will be able to help them out. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you with your questions and we hope to do better over the next year. So, keep them coming and one way or another someone will be able to answer them!

It may be too late in the season this year but we can always post events, training and schedules for next year.
